Ask The Experts About Virtual Psychologist

Lizzie asks…
I need advice about whether I should go back to high school as a senior or a junior? PLEASE RESPOND!?
Last year (2007-2008) I was a junior, and I took the following courses:
A.P. English
American History Honors
Chemistry Honors
Integrated Math 3
French 2
Digital Design
I did well first quarter, but during the second quarter I had eye surgery and I fell really behind and missed first semester exams, leaving me with D averages, and an F in A.P. English. I wanted to make up my work over Christmas break, but I couldn’t even see for most of it due to the surgery.
When school started back in January, I was extremely stressed and depressed and started having anxiety attacks about school. I saw a psychologist for a little while, but it didnt do much so I quit going. I’ve gotten much better by myself, but not until after I dropped out and switched to homeschooling through FLVS (Florida Virtual School: http://www.flvs.net)
(a LOT more to come, please wait to respond.)
I signed up for the following courses, but didn’t get accepted until June-July:
American History Honors
Chemistry Honors
Economics Honors
Government Honors
I have an “A” in all of the courses, but school starts back in August and I wont be done with them in time.
I also missed a lot of important scholarships, such as the National Merit Scholarship you can attain by taking the PSATs your junior year.
If I go back as a junior, I plan on taking the following classes:
English 3 Honors
French 2
Accounting I
Accounting II
Creative Writing (sem)
Contemporary Literature SAT Prep (sem)
or
Administrative Office Technology 1
Because I’ll already have all the other required academic courses for 11th grade nearly completed through FLVS, which are able to be transfered to my public school records easily. (Already talked to councelor.)
And, then next year, because I already have 3 English credits, 3 Science credits, 2 History credits, and the Government and Economics… I could do Dual-Enrollment at the local community college and receive both high school and college credit at the same time.
I would be graduating a year late, but I’ll be starting college technically at the same time as I would either way.
If I go back as a senior, I’ll have to take extra courses all year and work extremely hard to catch up in time for graduation, and I’ll still have bad grades on my transcript that I wont be able to make-up, which will bring my GPA wayyy down. I use to have about a 3.7-.8 GPA unweighted, but now it might even be below a 3.0.
But, if I go back as a junior, I wont be able to graduate with my friends and… this is a very lame reason, but my birthday is 09/09/90 and I thought it was insanely cool that I was also graduating in ’09.
And, I wont graduate until I’m 19 years old!
This is a hard decision and I have only a few days to decide…
(done, I think.)
I’ll be going to college in one year regardless of whether or not I go back as a senior or a junior, because if I do decide to be a junior again then I am definitely doing the Dual-Enrollment thing.

admin answers:
Go back as a junior. It’ll give you a chance to retake those courses and you’ll do a lot better.
